Key Financial Metrics
Total Revenue -> All the money Tesla earns from selling products & services
Total Cost of Revenue -> The direct costs to build and deliver those products & services (materials, manufacturing, logistics)
Total Gross Profit -> Total Revenue minus Total Cost of Revenue

Total Operating Expenses -> The cost of running the business – mainly R&D, stock-based compensation, and administrative expenses
Operating Income -> Gross Profit minus Operating Expenses
→ Profit from Tesla’s core operations, before interest and taxes
Net Income -> The final accounting profit after all expenses – including interest, taxes, and other non-operating items
Operating Cash Flow -> Cash generated from the business’s day-to-day operations
→ Starts with Net Income, then adjusts for non-cash items, like depreciation and changes in working capital
Capex (Capital Expenditures) -> Cash spent on long-term investments like factories, equipment, and infrastructure (e.g. gigafactories, data centres)
Free Cash Flow -> Operating Cash Flow minus Capex
→ The cash left after reinvesting in the business – available to build reserves, pay debt, or return to shareholders
